From November 27 to December 18, 2024, Vidi Gallery in Seoul presents Into the Infinite Drift of Space (무한한 유영의 공간 속으로), an invitational group exhibition showcasing the works of four artists: Kim Do Hyun, Park Su Hyung, Yook Gun Woo, and Jeon Bong Youl. This thoughtfully curated show invites viewers to explore themes of perception, identity, and emotional resonance through diverse artistic approaches and mediums.

Kim Do Hyun’s work centers on the pursuit of inner peace and recovery, translating these concepts into visual expressions on canvas. Through the interplay of layered colors, rhythmic textures, and structured lines, Kim constructs a tranquil yet dynamic space that evokes serenity. Abstract forms dominate the canvas, inviting viewers into a meditative experience that balances harmony and depth. The use of psychologically calming hues creates an ambient atmosphere, while the repetitive texture reflects the intrinsic materiality of the medium, fostering a sense of comfort and ease.

Park Su Hyung draws inspiration from his environment, transforming reflections on societal dynamics into visual metaphors. His work incorporates imagery of plants to symbolize the cyclical nature of life and society, examining themes of endurance and vitality through the lens of seasonal changes. In his Continuous Play series, Park uses artificial pearl powder and metallic silver to create surfaces that interact with light and surrounding environments, symbolizing the adaptability and resilience of individuals shaped by external influences. These reflective surfaces invite viewers to consider the interplay between personal agency and societal pressures.

Yook Gun Woo explores psychological abstraction through fabric-based installations. Using natural fibers and gesso, he creates intricate compositions that emphasize the tension and fluidity inherent in the material. His works examine themes such as "intension," "tension," and "layer upon layer," capturing the fleeting yet profound moments of human emotion. By incorporating vibrant colors alongside his signature white fabric, Yook adds depth to his exploration of emotional landscapes. The draped folds and delicate textures suggest a tension between fragility and strength, offering viewers an intuitive and immersive emotional experience shaped by light and shadow.

Jeon Bong Youl’s work takes the ocean as its central motif, conveying themes of introspection and identity through simplified compositions of color and texture. His minimalist approach captures the contemplative stillness of gazing at the horizon, where moments of reflection lead to profound encounters with the self. Jeon’s art invites viewers to pause amid the currents of life, using the sea as a metaphor for self-discovery and the ongoing process of identity formation. By presenting works that evoke a sense of temporal suspension, Jeon encourages audiences to embrace moments of self-directed reflection and autonomy.
