SM Entertainment has confirmed that NCT's latest subgroup, "NCT Wish," will make its official debut in February. The subgroup was created through SM Entertainment's audition show "NCT Universe: Lastart," which aired in Korea and Japan from July to September last year. The show aimed to establish a Japanese-localized subgroup within the NCT framework.

The name "NCT Wish" derives from the catchphrase "Wish for Our Wish," symbolizing the band's commitment to supporting the wishes and dreams of its audience through its music and love, as stated in an official news release by SM Entertainment.
Described as determined to become a 'Wish Icon,' NCT Wish aims to convey strong hope and energy to music fans worldwide, according to the agency.
Prior to its official debut, NCT Wish initiated activities under the name "NCT New Team" during its pre-debut phase. The group conducted a pre-debut tour, performing in nine cities across Japan.
NCT, debuting in 2016 under SM Entertainment, comprises 26 members divided into four subgroups: NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV, and the upcoming NCT Wish.
