South Korea will play against Thailand in Seoul on Thursday in the third game of the second round of qualification for the 2026 World Cup. With victories against Singapore and China in the previous two games, a win against Thailand would significantly advance South Korea's position in the qualification process.

Following a 3-0 victory over China in November, South Korea experienced coaching changes with Jurgen Klinsmann's departure after the Asian Cup campaign. Interim coach Hwang Sun-hong, known for his experience in the K League and with the Korean U-23 team, now leads the team.

Despite expectations for a win against Thailand, recent events, including reported conflicts between players Son Heung-min and Lee Kang-in, have drawn attention. Coach Hwang aims to address team dynamics and potential misunderstandings, emphasizing communication within the team.

Lee Kang-in has apologized for his involvement in the reported altercation with Son Heung-min, with Son urging forgiveness from fans. As the team prepares to face Thailand, all eyes are on the players' performance on the field, with a focus on securing victory and progressing further in the World Cup qualification process.
