South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook's latest movie "Decision to Leave" and actress Park Eun-bin's performance in the TV drama series "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" were the big winners at this year's Baeksang Arts Awards. The prestigious awards ceremony, now in its 59th year, recognizes excellence in the fields of film and television.
"Decision to Leave" took home the grand prize in the movie category, with Park Chan-wook receiving the award for best director and Chinese actress Tang Wei winning best actress for her role in the film. The romantic thriller follows the story of a woman who decides to leave her husband for another man, only to find that her new love interest may not be who he seems.
Meanwhile, the period thriller "The Night Owl" won the best film award, with its director Ahn Tae-jin and lead actor Ryu Jun-yeol receiving the awards for rookie director and best actor, respectively. The movie tells the story of a detective trying to solve a murder case in 1980s Seoul.

In the TV category, Park Eun-bin won the grand prize for her role as an autistic lawyer in the legal drama "Extraordinary Attorney Woo." The series, which aired in 2020, follows the story of a lawyer with autism who joins a law firm and must navigate the challenges of the legal world while dealing with her own unique struggles.
Other winners at the ceremony included Jung Ju-ri, who won the best screenplay award for the movie "Next Sohee," which tells the story of a workplace tragedy, and Kim Soo-hyun, who won best actor in a TV drama for his role in "It's Okay to Not Be Okay," a series about a caretaker at a psychiatric hospital who falls in love with a children's book author.
The Baeksang Arts Awards have been a staple of the South Korean entertainment industry since 1965, recognizing outstanding achievements in film and television. This year's ceremony, held on Friday night, was broadcast live on television and online, with many fans tuning in to see their favorite stars and productions honored for their contributions to Korean culture and entertainment.
