K-Pop Group Fifty Fifty Breaks Records with "Cupid" on UK Charts

Non-Collaborative Single Ranks Higher Than Any Other K-Pop Song, Despite Plagiarism Controversy

Fifty Fifty, a small and medium-sized K-pop girl group, has made history by ranking 18th on the "Official Singles Chart Top 100" in the UK with their single "Cupid". The achievement marks the highest rank for a non-collaborative K-pop single on the UK charts. Blackpink's "Sour Candy" previously held the title for the highest-ranking K-pop girl group song at 17th, but that was a collaboration with Lady Gaga.

The song's rise to fame has not been without controversy, however. Turkish singer Evrencan Gündüz has accused Fifty Fifty of plagiarism, claiming that "Cupid" bears striking similarities to his own song. Fifty Fifty's agency, Attract, has denied these claims, stating that the song is original and they are seeking confirmation on the matter.

Despite the controversy, "Cupid" has been gaining popularity rapidly. The song entered the chart at 96th and has climbed to 18th in just a few weeks. The group's success has been hailed as a "miracle" by industry experts, as they are not backed by a major record label.

In addition to Fifty Fifty's achievement, K-pop stars BTS Suga and Jimin also made appearances on the UK charts. Suga's first official solo album title song, "Haegeum," entered the charts at 77th, while Jimin's "Like Crazy" ranked 84th for five consecutive weeks, dropping 19 places from the previous week.

Fifty Fifty's success in the UK charts is a testament to the growing influence of K-pop in the global music industry. Despite the controversy surrounding "Cupid," the group has shown that they have what it takes to break records and make their mark on the world stage.
