Released on Jan. 31, "Wonka" has accumulated over 1.8 million in ticket sales as of Monday, with 750,490 moviegoers viewing it over the four-day Seollal break. The Korea Box Office Information System (Kobis) reported these figures on Tuesday, underscoring the film's popularity.

Competing films, "Citizen of a Kind" and "Dog Days," secured the second and third positions, respectively, until the documentary "The Birth of Korea," centered on Korea's first president, Syngman Rhee, rose to the third spot on Sunday.

As of Monday, "Citizen of a Kind" recorded over 1.48 million in total ticket sales, while "The Birth of Korea" garnered 329,948.

The cast of "Wonka" includes notable names such as Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, Olivia Colman, and Hugh Grant, contributing to the film's appeal. The production also gained attention in Korea due to the involvement of cinematographer Chung Chung-hoon, renowned for his collaboration with director Park Chan-wook.

Looking ahead, upcoming releases in February include "Dune: Part Two," "Exhuma," and "aespa: MY First page," which are expected to make their way to local theaters.
