LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin has postponed the release of her new single Jellyfish to join the nation in mourning the victims of the recent Jeju Air crash. Her agency, Source Music, announced the decision on December 30, citing the tragic accident at Muan Airport as the reason.

Originally scheduled for release at 6 PM KST on December 30, the track’s debut has been postponed indefinitely. Source Music stated, “This decision was made in light of the unfortunate incident that occurred yesterday. We will provide further updates on the rescheduled release date.” The agency also extended its sympathies to the victims and their families, adding, “We deeply mourn the loss of lives and offer our condolences to the bereaved families. We kindly ask for fans’ understanding.”

Jellyfish is Huh Yunjin’s fifth self-composed song and falls within the R&B and soul genres. Drawing inspiration from jellyfish gracefully drifting through the sea, the song reflects her introspective and imaginative approach to music. Known for her growing repertoire, Huh has previously released tracks like Raise Your Glass, Idol, I≠DOLL, Bleeding Roses, and Blessing in Disguise, showcasing her talent as a songwriter and vocalist.

The government has declared a national mourning period until January 4, 2024, following the tragic incident, which resulted in 179 fatalities and left two injured. In response, South Korea’s entertainment industry has largely halted celebratory events. Major broadcasters have canceled year-end award shows, and numerous artists, including Huh Yunjin, have postponed performances and album releases.

Huh’s decision to delay the release of Jellyfish reflects a growing sense of social responsibility within the entertainment sector. By prioritizing collective grief and solidarity over promotional activities, the artist demonstrates a commitment to empathy and respect during a time of national mourning.
