Singer and actress BoA ignited speculation about her future in the entertainment industry following a cryptic Instagram story posted over the weekend. The post, questioning the possibility of retirement upon contract expiration, led to various interpretations due to a spelling error in the Korean term for retirement.

On Saturday, BoA's Instagram story posed the question, "If my contract expires, I can retire, right?" However, a typographical error was noted in the term "retire," where "untoe" was used instead of "euntoe."

Clarifying the misunderstanding, BoA later corrected the error, stating, "'I made a typo. It is 'euntoe.'"

The incident has prompted discussions regarding BoA's potential departure from the industry, particularly in light of recent online criticism she faced regarding her appearance and acting skills in the drama "Marry My Husband."

Debuting at 13 years old in 2000, BoA has been a notable figure in the K-pop industry, achieving milestones such as being the first Korean singer to top the Oricon chart in Japan. This year marks the 24th anniversary of her debut, during which she diversified her career through acting and participation as a judge on audition shows.

Facing backlash for her portrayal of a villain in the tvN drama "Marry My Husband," which concluded in February, BoA addressed the issue via social media on March 29. In her statement, she highlighted the challenges of public scrutiny and emphasized her resilience in the face of criticism.

Further discussing the pressures of celebrity life, BoA appeared on a news show on March 30, likening her experience to living in "The Truman Show," where her every move is scrutinized since her debut at a young age.

"Celebrities shouldn't become the focus of anger just because their lives are visible to the public," BoA asserted during the interview.
