South Korean actor and singer Cha Eun-woo is proving that mandatory military service doesn't have to mean a complete pause in his entertainment career. The multi-talented star is preparing to release his second solo mini album titled "ELSE" later this month, complete with multiple music videos that were produced before his enlistment.
Cha enlisted at the Army Training Center in July and has been serving in the military band following the completion of his basic training. His mandatory service is scheduled to conclude on January 27, 2027. Before beginning his military duties, the performer made a promise to his devoted fanbase, saying, "My album, film and drama projects will all be released. Please don't forget me."
True to his word, Cha is now delivering on that promise with the upcoming release of "ELSE." On Thursday, he shared a teaser image that announced the music video for "Sweet Papaya," one of the tracks featured on his new album. The carefully planned release schedule shows that the video teaser will debut on November 26, with the complete music video following two days later on November 28.
The artist has prepared a total of two music videos for this album release. The first is for the title track "Saturday Preacher," which will be released simultaneously with the album itself. The second video is for "Sweet Papaya," which reportedly offers a completely different mood and style from the title track. This pre-produced content strategy is designed to keep his global fanbase engaged and entertained throughout his military service period.
The newly released promotional image showcases Cha standing confidently at the center of a stage, surrounded by various musical instruments. The visual aesthetic exudes a funky, tropical atmosphere that combines his natural charismatic presence with bright, vibrant colors and the intriguing phrase "Stay Tuned!" This imagery has successfully heightened anticipation among fans who are eagerly awaiting his return to music.
"Sweet Papaya" was partially revealed to fans through an earlier highlight medley, giving them a taste of what's to come. The preview showcased Cha's smooth and chill vocal style layered over an upbeat, party-like instrumental sound. The full music video is expected to demonstrate his expanding musical range and artistic growth as a solo performer.
Cha Eun-woo's second mini album "ELSE" is scheduled for release at 1:00 PM on November 21. Despite the limitations that come with active military service, he continues to demonstrate his strong presence as a solo artist in the competitive K-pop industry. This strategic release is raising expectations among fans and industry observers about the artistic spectrum and musical evolution he will showcase through this new album, proving that his creative journey continues even while fulfilling his national service obligations.
