Colorful Bull Sculptures from Birmingham Art Trail to Be Auctioned for Hospice Charity

Sayart / Oct 16, 2025

Forty large, colorful bull sculptures that were part of a popular public art trail in Birmingham will be auctioned off on Thursday to raise funds for Birmingham Hospice. The auction will take place at Millennium Point, with all proceeds going directly to support the hospice's charitable work.

The sculptural creations were inspired by the famous Bullring bull and were decorated by local artists as part of the "Bulls in the City" trail that took place earlier in 2025. Each of the 40 large fiberglass statues featured unique designs created by talented local artists, ranging from murals celebrating Birmingham's rich local history to imaginative transformations that made some bulls look like dragons or tigers.

The sculptures were strategically placed throughout Birmingham, with most positioned around the city center to maximize public exposure. Additionally, four bulls were placed on Harborne High Street and three on Boldmere High Street, bringing the art experience to different neighborhoods across the city.

Lucy Watkins, a representative from Birmingham Hospice, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming community support the Bulls in the City trail received. "I feel incredibly lucky for the support shown throughout the Bulls in the City trail," Watkins said. She emphasized the direct impact the auction will have on the hospice's mission, adding, "The funds raised through this auction will directly support our services and help us continue delivering compassionate care across Birmingham."

The Bulls in the City trail represents a successful collaboration between local artists, the community, and charitable organizations, demonstrating how public art can serve both cultural and philanthropic purposes. The upcoming auction provides art enthusiasts and supporters of Birmingham Hospice with an opportunity to own a piece of the city's recent artistic heritage while contributing to a meaningful cause.
