K-pop Dominates Top CD Sales in the US for 2023, Taylor Swift Holds Strong Presence

Luminate Report Reveals Seven K-pop Albums Among Top 10, Taylor Swift's "Taylor's Version" Leads with 800,000 Sales

In the annual report for 2023 released by Luminate, an American music and entertainment industry data research firm, seven out of the top 10 best-selling pop music CDs in the US were K-pop albums. Pop superstar Taylor Swift claimed the remaining three spots.

Taylor Swift's "Taylor's Version" secured the top position, boasting a total of 800,000 sales. The singer's 10th studio album, "Midnights," and "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" occupied the eighth and ninth spots, each selling around 260,000 copies.

JYP Entertainment's Stray Kids made a notable presence with their third studio album, "Five-Star," and the eighth mini album, "Rock-Star," selling approximately 520,000 and 380,000 copies, securing second and fourth places.

Hybe-affiliated K-pop groups also had a strong showing on the list. TXT's fifth EP, "The Name Chapter: Temptation," ranked third with 440,000 copies sold. NewJeans' second EP, "Get Up," claimed the fifth spot with 330,000 copies sold. Seventeen's tenth EP, "FML," secured seventh place with 280,000 copies sold. BTS's Jungkook emerged as the only Korean soloist on the list, selling 240,000 copies of his first solo album, "Golden."

Twice, who recently completed an arena tour in the US, occupied the sixth position by selling 300,000 copies of their twelfth EP, "Ready To Be."
