Rising Girl Group Claims Second-Highest Selling Album Spot by a Female Artist in K-Pop History

NewJeans, the sensational girl group that burst onto the K-Pop scene in August 2022, is making headlines once again with their latest EP, "Get Up." The album's unprecedented success has surpassed all expectations, with over 1.65 million copies flying off the shelves in the first week of its release. This remarkable feat not only solidifies the group's position as a rising powerhouse but also marks the second most-sold K-pop album by a female artist within the first week of its release.

Since their debut, NewJeans has been on an impressive upward trajectory, with each release garnering increasing attention and acclaim. Their debut EP, aptly titled "New Jeans," saw staggering first-week sales of 310,000 units, establishing a new record as the most-sold rookie K-pop girl group album during its initial release. The single "OMG," released in January of this year, further demonstrated the group's popularity as its first-week sales surged past 700,000 units.

With "Get Up," NewJeans has set a new standard for success, with a whopping 1.2 million copies sold on the first day of its release, July 21, according to their agency ADOR. These remarkable first-week album sales hold significant importance to both the artists and their dedicated fandom, serving as a testament to the group's immense size and influence within the K-Pop community.

Notably, NewJeans' latest EP has resonated far beyond South Korea's borders, achieving solid international recognition. The album earned an impressive No. 2 spot on Billboard's Global 200 chart, a No. 64 position on the prestigious Billboard Hot 100, and a remarkable No. 59 placement on the UK Official Singles chart, marking the highest-ever rankings for the girl group.

Comprising five talented members - Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein - NewJeans is under the management of ADOR, a newly-founded music label under the renowned HYBE corporation, led by former creative director of SM Entertainment, Min Hee-jin.

"Get Up" features a total of six captivating tracks, including lead singles "Super Shy," "ETA," and "Cool With You." An interesting aspect of the EP is that all six tracks clock in at under 3 minutes each, resulting in a cohesive and impactful album lasting a mere 12 minutes and 11 seconds in length.

As NewJeans continues to captivate audiences with their infectious sound and mesmerizing performances, the group's meteoric rise shows no signs of slowing down. Their exceptional achievements have undoubtedly placed them at the forefront of the K-Pop industry, with "Get Up" serving as a triumphant testament to their ever-growing success.
