“Project Silence,” an action thriller directed by Kim Tae-gon, will be released in theaters on July 12, according to its distributor, CJ ENM. The film features the late Lee Sun-kyun as Jung-won, a national security officer who becomes stranded on a collapsed bridge enveloped in dense fog while en route to the airport with his daughter.

The movie also stars Ju Ji-hoon as Jo-bak, a tow truck driver who arrives at the scene to clear crashed vehicles, and Kim Hee-won as Dr. Yang, the mastermind behind a clandestine experiment known as “Project Silence.”

The trailer, released on Thursday, depicts a chaotic sequence where a military experimental dog, out of control, charges towards a car on the fog-covered bridge while Jung-won and his daughter Kyung-min attempt to flee. The trailer also hints at the film’s intense atmosphere with scenes of a helicopter crash, a gas explosion, and the bridge collapsing into the sea.

“Project Silence” was showcased at last year’s Cannes Film Festival in the Midnight Screening section, a category that features genre films with both critical and commercial appeal. At the festival, the film secured distribution deals in 140 countries, including France, the United States, Germany, and Japan.

In addition to “Project Silence,” Lee Sun-kyun’s other film, “The Land of Happiness,” directed by Choo Chang-min, is scheduled for release in August. This movie tells the story of a lawyer, Jung In-hoo (played by Jo Jung-suk), who defends a soldier, Park Tae-joo (played by Lee), in a trial related to the assassination of President Park Chung-hee. The film’s distributor, NEW, has announced its upcoming release.
