The Japanese version of JTBC's satire series "SKY Castle" (2018-19) is set to begin airing in July, following a partnership agreement between SLL JoongAng and Japan's TV Asahi.
Unlike the Korean version, which centers around the university admission process, the Japanese adaptation will focus on the high school admission process. This decision aims to better reflect the realities of the Japanese education system, where high school admissions are considered more challenging and involve greater parental participation.

The remake marks the first collaboration between SLL JoongAng and TV Asahi since they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in May. The agreement aims to jointly plan and develop drama series and other content to enhance their global presence.
Park Joon-suh, head of the production business unit at SLL JoongAng, expressed satisfaction with the collaboration, stating that they aim to produce competitive works appealing to the global market.
"SKY Castle" gained significant popularity for its portrayal of the dark side of the Korean education system, including the corruption within private education institutes. The series achieved a viewership rating of 23.8 percent during its original airing, a notable achievement for a cable channel production.
