Blackpink has earned a gold certification from the British Phonographic Industry for their first studio album, "The Album." The organization announced on Tuesday that the album logged 100,000 in sales in the UK, making Blackpink the first K-pop female artist to achieve this milestone.

Released in May 2020, "The Album" reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and remained on the main albums chart for 26 consecutive weeks, setting a record for a K-pop female act at the time. Additionally, it peaked at No. 2 on the UK's Official Top Albums chart. The main track, "Lovesick Girls," reached No. 59 on Billboard’s Hot 100, while the pre-release single "How You Like That" peaked at No. 33.

"The Album" also marked a significant commercial success for Blackpink, becoming the first million-seller from a K-pop girl group with over 1.2 million copies sold.

In December last year, the four members of Blackpink renewed their contracts for group activities exclusively with YG Entertainment.
