Disbrow Iannuzzi has completed the Baw Beese House, a sophisticated lakeside vacation retreat in Hillsdale, Michigan, designed specifically to accommodate multiple generations of a family. The 4,300-square-foot residence represents a thoughtful architectural response to contemporary social, familial, and health considerations, enabling family members to occupy the space together or independently as needed.
The architectural firm, led by David Iannuzzi, conceived the lake house as a contextual solution that addresses various challenges including community integration, economic efficiency, and multigenerational living requirements. The design philosophy centers on creating flexible living arrangements that can adapt to different family configurations over time, ensuring the property remains functional and relevant for years to come.
The house's innovative design features three distinct living areas that can operate independently or function as a cohesive whole, depending on which family members are present at any given time. This modular approach allows for maximum flexibility, enabling privacy when desired while maintaining the option for communal family gatherings. Each living zone is self-contained with its own amenities, yet seamlessly integrated into the overall architectural vision.
Construction was handled by Giraffe Design Build, with photography by Round Three Photography showcasing the completed project. The design team incorporated high-quality materials and fixtures from renowned manufacturers including Fisher & Paykel, Astria, Brizo Kitchen and Bath, ILVE, Kohler, Marvin, Nakamoto Forestry North America, and Rais, ensuring both durability and aesthetic appeal throughout the residence.
