On November 18 at 10 PM, TWS, known for its youthful vibrancy, unveiled the tracklist for its much-anticipated first single, Last Bell. This winter-themed release consists of the title track "Last Festival" and two additional songs: "Your Name" (Highlight) and "Draw a Comma Instead of a Period" (Comma,).
The lyrics of "Last Festival" have drawn particular attention due to the involvement of Seo Tae Ji, Korea’s revered "Cultural President." The song draws inspiration from Seo Tae Ji and Boys' 1993 hit of the same name, adapting its essence to capture timeless emotions. According to Pledis Entertainment, TWS's agency, "The storyline echoes the theme of Seo Tae Ji's original song, preparing a final celebration for a special individual as a form of farewell. This piece captures the raw, relatable emotions of youth that transcend generations."
However, Pledis clarified that "Last Festival" is not simply a remake but a complete reinterpretation of TWS’s unique sound. The agency explained, “The original song served as thematic inspiration, but the sound has been transformed into a fresh, wintery anthem that exudes TWS's signature youthful energy and perspective.”
This release, Last Bell, centers around the theme of graduating youth, focusing on the emotional nuances that arise when preparing to part ways. The lyrics explore complex feelings—experiencing new sensations of affection for long-time friends, the bittersweet sorrow of saying goodbye, and the hopeful anticipation of the future.
The production quality of Last Bell is notably refined, with Pledis acknowledging the members' dedication to perfecting both the title track and the accompanying songs. "Each member invested significant effort in enhancing the musicality of every track," they shared. “Last Bell delivers a coherent narrative of growing youth, showcasing TWS's evolution and musical maturity.”
Fans will get an exclusive preview of Last Bell on November 20 at 10 PM with a highlight medley release. Following this, TWS will appear prominent at the Mnet MAMA Music Awards, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, on November 21.
The full release of Last Bell is scheduled for November 25 at 6 PM. It promises to captivate audiences worldwide with its fresh, resonant take on the emotional journey of young adulthood.
