JYP Entertainment's rookie boy group KickFlip is set to make its highly anticipated debut. On January 6, JYP revealed the group’s profile images and the release schedule for their first mini-album, Flip it, Kick it!, which is slated for release on January 20 at 6 PM KST.
The seven-member group consists of Gye Hoon, Amaru, Dong Hwa, Joo Wang, Min Jae, K-Ju, and Dong Hyun. To build excitement ahead of their debut, the group pre-released the full music video for their track 응 그래 (“Yeah, Whatever”) on the same day. Additional teaser content will follow leading up to the album's release.
On their debut day, KickFlip will host a packed schedule of events, including an Mnet M2 debut showcase at 7 PM and a formal debut showcase at 9 PM. To further celebrate their debut, the group will hold a pop-up event at The Hyundai Seoul in Yeongdeungpo-gu from January 25 to February 2, allowing fans to immerse themselves in KickFlip’s vibrant world.
The music video for 응 그래 kicks off with a humorous scene of member Gye Hoon falling off a skateboard, setting the tone for the track’s lighthearted and rebellious spirit. The video captures the members dancing, laughing, and exuding carefree energy, perfectly complementing the song’s playful lyrics. The track humorously addresses nagging criticism with lines about ignoring clichés and confidently pursuing one's path.
KickFlip first grabbed attention in November 2024 when they unveiled their group name and silhouette photos at the 2024 MAMA Awards held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Their mysterious debut teaser generated buzz among domestic and international K-pop fans.
The group’s name, KickFlip, is derived from a skateboarding trick where the rider flips the board 360 degrees with their toes, symbolizing their ambition to break free from conventions and innovate within the music industry. With this bold vision, they are set to make a fresh impact on the K-pop scene.
Their debut mini-album, Flip it, Kick it!, promises to showcase the group’s versatility and charisma. Fans are eagerly anticipating what KickFlip will bring to the table, with their energetic performances and distinctive style already leaving a mark.
As one of JYP Entertainment's newest projects, KickFlip’s debut signals a strong start to 2025. With a mix of humor, charm, and innovation, they are poised to carve out a unique space in the competitive world of K-pop.
