Doyoung, a member of the popular K-pop group NCT, will drop a solo digital single titled “Frosty” on Nov. 6, according to an announcement from SM Entertainment on Monday. The upcoming single, co-written by Doyoung himself, captures the complex emotions he has felt as he approaches the end of his twenties, offering fans a personal glimpse into this transitional period of his life.

“Frosty” follows the success of Doyoung’s first solo album Youth, which was released in April and made an impressive impact on the charts. All ten tracks from the album entered Melon’s Top 100 Chart, with the main track, “Little Light,” reaching No. 2 on the Hot 100 chart. The album allowed fans to see a different side of Doyoung’s artistry, and Youth was widely praised for its introspective lyrics and emotional depth.

Earlier this year, Doyoung embarked on his first solo Asia tour, Dear Youth, performing across nine cities to enthusiastic audiences. The tour concluded successfully last month, but Doyoung will be hosting encore concerts in Seoul from Nov. 1 to 3, bringing his solo tour full circle. The encore shows will take place about five months after he initially launched the tour with a sold-out three-day concert in Seoul, marking a significant milestone in his career.

Doyoung’s new single “Frosty” is expected to build on the deeply personal themes explored in Youth, touching on a spectrum of feelings that resonate with listeners across generations. Fans are particularly eager to see how the song will expand on Doyoung’s growth as both a musician and a lyricist, as he increasingly takes on a more hands-on approach to his creative process.

Industry experts have noted that Doyoung’s success as a solo artist is indicative of his broad appeal beyond his group activities with NCT. Music critic Kim Soo-min commented, “Doyoung has been very successful in establishing his own musical identity, and his ability to connect with listeners on a personal level is evident in his chart performance and the strong reception of his solo tour.”

As Doyoung releases “Frosty” and prepares for his Seoul encore concerts, his continued evolution as an artist is clear. His journey from group performances with NCT to a solo artist exploring his personal experiences has allowed him to build a distinct voice in the K-pop industry. With Frosty, Doyoung’s artistic growth and emotional sincerity promise to resonate deeply with fans and further solidify his place in the music scene.
