Photo+Adventure 2025 Photography Trade Fair Draws Aviation Enthusiasts and Travel Photographers to Austria

The Photo+Adventure 2025 trade fair took place last weekend at the Pyramid venue in Vösendorf, Austria, attracting photographers, plane spotters, and travel enthusiasts from across the German-speaking region. Austrian Wings attended the event, which has become a mandatory appointment for aviation photographers and plane spotters. The Photo+Adventure has established itself as the leading and largest photography trade fair in German-speaking countries, serving as a unique festival for individual travel, adventure, film, and video.

The event venue itself, the Pyramid building—formerly a wellness temple called El Dorado and later known as City Club—provided an intriguing photographic subject. The comprehensive program offered at Photo+Adventure 2025 was designed to make every photographer's heart beat faster. Plane spotters and drone enthusiasts were well catered to, alongside travel and nature photographers, with many plane spotters combining their passion with travel, effectively killing two birds with one stone.

The exhibition featured more than 100 exhibitors, including camera manufacturers, photo shops, travel agencies, and tourism boards from destinations ranging from Poland to Uganda. This diverse representation ensured there was truly something for everyone. Visitors could examine and test equipment on-site, benefiting from professional advice and attractive trade fair prices. Additionally, approximately 60 free lectures and various workshops were available for an additional fee to help attendees improve their skills.

Drones have increasingly become important for photographers and filmmakers in recent years, so it was no surprise that this technology was given significant space at Photo+Adventure 2025. The range of drone offerings extended from handheld mini models to professional camera drones. Anton Wildberger, one of Austria's best-known plane spotters, was present to provide information about the Lightbox Academy's offerings, where he himself once completed comprehensive photographic training.

However, Photo+Adventure is much more than just a trade fair—it serves as a meeting point for photography and travel enthusiasts. Many visitors are regular attendees, transforming the event into something of a family reunion. Plane spotters had a highly competent contact person in Anton Wildberger, known as "The flying photographer," who was available at the Lightbox Academy booth to answer questions.

One of the most meaningful exhibitors from a human perspective was the organization "Dein Sternenkind" (Your Star Child). This group provides parents of deceased babies with "the first and last picture"—free of charge. While this topic has nothing to do with aviation or travel, it represents an important service that deserved mention at the event.

Drones continue to play an increasingly important role for photographers and camera operators, both in amateur and professional contexts. The outdoor theme was also addressed comprehensively, with Austrian Wings photographer "AviaJack" traveling with a comparable motorhome from airshow to airshow throughout Europe. Film presentations and specialized lectures were included in the admission price, providing added value for attendees.

Uganda was highlighted as a wildlife and nature paradise, representing the international travel opportunities presented at the fair. Overall, this year's Photo+Adventure proved to be another successful trade fair event, already generating anticipation among visitors for the 2026 edition. The combination of equipment exhibitions, educational opportunities, and networking possibilities continues to make Photo+Adventure an essential event for photography and travel enthusiasts in the region.
