Lee Kang-in and Son Heung-min Shine with Two Goals Each in Dominant Display

South Korea's national soccer team secured a commanding 7-0 victory over Singapore at the National Stadium on Thursday, ensuring their place in the final round of Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The match, attended by 49,097 spectators, showcased impressive performances from Paris Saint-Germain's Lee Kang-in and Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min, each scoring twice.

South Korea opened the scoring in the ninth minute. Son Heung-min's initial shot was saved by Singapore goalkeeper Hassan Sunny, but Joo Min-kyu retrieved the rebound and set up Lee Kang-in, who converted with a powerful right-footed shot. Singapore had opportunities to equalize, with Hami Syahin's header saved by Jo Hyeon-woo and Ikhsan Fandi missing the target from close range.

The visitors doubled their lead in the 20th minute when Kim Jin-su's cross was headed in by an unmarked Joo Min-kyu. Singapore had previously come back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with China in their last home game, but South Korea extinguished any hopes of a similar comeback with a quick succession of goals early in the second half.

Son Heung-min extended the lead to 3-0 in the 53rd minute, receiving the ball on the right flank, cutting inside past Harhys Stewart, and scoring with a low shot. Just a minute later, Lee Kang-in capitalized on a defensive error to score his second goal of the match. Son added Korea's fifth goal shortly after, mirroring his earlier effort.

Although Son was denied a hat-trick when Hassan Sunny saved another curling shot, South Korea's substitutes continued the scoring. Bae Jun-ho and Hwang Hee-chan added two more goals late in the match, sealing the comprehensive win.

With this victory, South Korea secured the top spot in Group C of the qualifiers, with one match remaining in the current round.
