Actor Lee Sun-kyun, renowned for his role in the Oscar-winning film "Parasite," is set to be summoned by the police for questioning this Saturday. He faces allegations of illegal drug use, prompting a recent booking for investigation on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.

The Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency plans to administer a drug test during the questioning session to ascertain if Lee engaged in the use of illegal drugs, and if so, the frequency and types of substances involved.

Police authorities imposed an overseas travel ban on Lee Sun-kyun after confirming his presence in South Korea.

The investigation centers around suspicions that Lee Sun-kyun used marijuana and other illegal drugs at the residence of a hostess employed at a high-end bar located in Seoul's Gangnam district. These alleged incidents reportedly occurred on multiple occasions since the beginning of the year.

Information about Lee's suspected drug use came to light during an ongoing inquiry prompted by a tipoff regarding illegal drug circulation in Gangnam nightclubs. To date, the police have booked eight individuals, including Lee, the hostess, a third-generation heir of a conglomerate family, and a prospective entertainer.

In a separate development, G-Dragon, a prominent figure in the K-pop group Big Bang, has also been booked on suspicions of drug use. The rapper-singer, whose real name is Kwon Ji-yong, has denied the allegations and pledged to cooperate with the police investigation, as stated through his lawyer on Friday.
