Korean drama soundtracks are set to captivate audiences once again as "OST Symphony: K-Drama in Concert" returns for its highly anticipated second edition this October in Taguig City, Philippines. The upcoming musical celebration, officially titled "OST Symphony II: K-Drama in Concert," promises to deliver another memorable evening of beloved Korean drama theme songs performed by a full orchestra.
The concert follows the remarkable success of its inaugural staging, which took place in June 2024 at the prestigious Metropolitan Theater in Manila. According to a press release from the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC), the first edition proved to be a resounding success, generating significant enthusiasm among Filipino audiences for Korean cultural content and establishing a strong foundation for this year's return engagement.
"OST Symphony II" is scheduled to take place on October 25 at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura, located in Taguig City. Concert organizers have arranged two separate performances to accommodate the expected high demand, with shows scheduled at 2:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. This dual-performance format allows more fans to experience the magic of Korean drama soundtracks performed in a live orchestral setting.
The event represents a collaborative effort between several prominent cultural institutions in the Philippines. The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) is co-organizing the concert alongside the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, demonstrating the strong cultural partnership between Korea and the Philippines in promoting artistic exchange and appreciation.
The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) will serve as the featured ensemble for the evening, bringing their exceptional musical talents to bear on popular Korean drama soundtracks. Under the expert direction of Maestro Herminigildo Ranera, the orchestra will present their own unique interpretations and arrangements of well-known K-drama theme songs, transforming these beloved melodies into full orchestral experiences that highlight both the emotional depth of the original compositions and the technical prowess of the Filipino musicians.
