Yoo Seung-ho to Make Theater Debut in "Angels in America"

South Korean Actor Steps into Leading Role in Acclaimed Play

South Korean actor Yoo Seung-ho is set to make his theatrical debut in "Angels in America," taking on the lead role of Prior Walter, his agency YG Entertainment announced on Wednesday. The play will be performed from August 6 to September 28 at the LG Arts Center in Seoul.

"Angels in America," a landmark work by Tony Kushner, premiered in 1991 and is set in the 1980s, exploring the intersecting lives of individuals affected by issues of race, politics, religion, and sexual orientation. The play has been noted for its in-depth portrayal of marginalized communities and has received critical acclaim for its raw depiction of the struggles faced by those living with suppressed desires in a society marked by prejudice.

Yoo will portray Prior Walter, a character who is a terminally ill gay man grappling with his illness and the disintegration of his relationship. The role involves navigating a complex life filled with both visions and reality, as the character endeavors to maintain a semblance of love and dignity amid his challenges.
