A new architectural project called Atelier Jeumeu has been completed in Gangneung, South Korea, offering visitors a peaceful escape from urban life. The 141-square-meter retreat was designed by COV Studio and completed in 2024, with photography by Yongjoon Choi.
Located in Jeumeu Village, whose name translates to "the village where the sun sets," the project serves as a hospitality facility designed to provide respite from city life. The architects conceived the space as a refuge that invites visitors to step away from the fast pace of urban living and embrace moments of stillness and tranquility.
The project represents COV Studio's approach to creating spaces that prioritize mindfulness and connection with nature. The design team included lead architects Minkoo Cha and Boram Kim, with technical contributions from Jongbae Park and design work by Soee Jeon.
Atelier Jeumeu exemplifies contemporary Korean architecture's focus on creating meaningful spaces that serve both functional and spiritual needs, offering guests an opportunity to reconnect with themselves in a serene rural setting.
