Son Jun-ho, a football player for Shandong Taishan in the Chinese Super League, has returned home to South Korea after being detained in Liaoning province, China, for approximately 10 months. His agency, NEST, announced his desire to rejoin the K5 League, the highest amateur competition in Korea.
Son, a national team veteran, is reportedly seeking to join Geonyung FC, one of the K5 clubs, according to Park Dae-yeon, CEO of NEST.
The Korea Football Association is currently reviewing Son's eligibility to join Geonyung FC, as confirmed by an official from the association.
Chinese media previously reported that Son's detention may be related to investigations into alleged match-fixing involving the coach and other players from Son's team.
