A statue honoring legendary Cincinnati Reds broadcaster Marty Brennaman has been damaged by vandals just months after its public unveiling. The bronze statue, which stands prominently at Crosley Terrace alongside monuments to baseball greats Pete Rose and Joe Morgan, had its microphone broken off in what appears to be an act of vandalism.

The statue was created by renowned artist Tom Tsuchiya to commemorate Brennaman's remarkable 46-year career as the voice of the Cincinnati Reds. The monument was officially unveiled on September 6, marking a significant milestone in honoring one of baseball's most beloved broadcasters. The statue's location at Crosley Terrace places it among other Cincinnati baseball legends, creating a tribute area for fans to visit.

According to news partners at WCPO, the microphone portion of the statue was completely broken off, leaving visible damage to the artwork. A spokesperson for the Cincinnati Reds organization has confirmed that team officials are aware of the vandalism incident and are currently conducting their own investigation into the matter. The team has not yet released details about potential security footage or witnesses to the incident.

For Brennaman himself, the statue represented one of his greatest personal honors throughout his distinguished broadcasting career. He had previously expressed that receiving the statue was even more meaningful to him than his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame, highlighting the deep significance this tribute held for the veteran sportscaster.

WCPO reporters have reached out to the Cincinnati Police Department to determine whether they are conducting a separate criminal investigation into the vandalism, but law enforcement officials have not yet responded to requests for comment. The incident has disappointed fans and community members who view the statue as an important piece of Cincinnati's rich baseball heritage.
