Japanese Street Photographer Takehiko Nakafuji's 'Down on the Street' Exhibition Opens at Paris Gallery

Mind's Eye / Galerie Adrian Bondy is presenting "Down on the Street," a compelling photography exhibition by Japanese artist Takehiko Nakafuji. The exhibition showcases carefully selected images from his latest book of the same name, along with photographs from his earlier publication, "White Noise."

Nakafuji's photographs are distinguished by their remarkable dynamism and energy, enhanced by high-contrast printing techniques that create an immersive viewing experience. Visitors get the genuine impression of being on the street alongside the photographer, experiencing the urban environment through his unique perspective.

Born in Tokyo in 1970, Takehiko Nakafuji graduated from the photography department of Tokyo Visual Arts College. Beyond his work as a photographer, he owns and operates the Niepce Gallery in Yotsuya, Tokyo. His artistic achievements include the publication of ten books focusing primarily on black-and-white street photography.

Nakafuji's work has taken him around the globe on numerous photographic missions. His travels have included extensive projects in Russia, Cuba, China, Hong Kong, Paris, New York, and various countries throughout Eastern Europe. These international experiences have significantly influenced his artistic vision and photographic approach.

Throughout his career, Nakafuji has presented numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Japan and internationally, establishing himself as a prominent figure in contemporary street photography. His works have gained institutional recognition and are permanently housed in three prestigious Japanese museums: the Kiyosato Museum of Photo Art, the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, and the Shunan City Museum of Art and History in Yamaguchi.

The "Down on the Street" exhibition will run from October 25 through December 14, 2025. A special opening reception is scheduled for November 13, featuring the photographer's attendance. The gallery is open Monday through Friday by appointment only, and Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
