BLACKPINK member Jennie has achieved another milestone in her international career by being selected as a headliner for Spain's prestigious 2026 Mad Cool Festival. The K-pop superstar stands out as the sole Korean artist featured in the festival's star-studded lineup, marking a significant moment for K-pop representation at one of Europe's most prominent music events.
The festival organizers announced on Monday that Jennie will take the main stage on July 9 as part of the four-day musical extravaganza scheduled to run from July 8 to 11 in Madrid. She will share the coveted headliner status alongside internationally acclaimed acts including American rock band Foo Fighters, British indie rock group Florence & the Machine, alternative duo Twenty One Pilots, and legendary artist Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
Mad Cool Festival has established itself as one of Europe's premier summer music destinations since its inception in 2016. The annual event showcases a diverse range of musical genres, featuring top-tier artists from rock, indie, alternative, pop, and electronic music scenes. Over the years, the festival has hosted an impressive roster of performers including British rock band Muse, rising star Gracie Abrams, pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo, and Grammy-winning artist Lizzo.
This latest achievement builds upon Jennie's groundbreaking performance earlier this year at Coachella, where she made history in April as the first K-pop solo artist to perform on the festival's Outdoor Theatre stage. Her commanding presence on one of Coachella's largest stages garnered significant global attention and praise, demonstrating her ability to captivate international audiences as a solo performer.
Jennie's selection as a Mad Cool Festival headliner represents another significant step in the global expansion of K-pop and highlights the growing international recognition of Korean artists beyond traditional Asian markets. Her inclusion in such a prestigious European festival lineup underscores the universal appeal of her music and performance capabilities on the world stage.
