JYP Entertainment revealed that its latest boy group, NEXZ, is set to debut on May 20 with their single "Ride the Vibe." The announcement was made through the company's official social media platforms, accompanied by the release of a trailer video for the upcoming single.

Comprised entirely of Japanese members — Tomoya, Yu, Haru, So Geon, Seita, Hyui, and Yuki — NEXZ marks JYP's first boy band introduction in approximately six years since the debut of Stray Kids.

The seven-member group was formed through the second season of the audition program "Nizi (Rainbow) Project" in 2023, a collaboration between JYP and Sony Music, Japan's largest record label. This collaboration previously resulted in the formation of the all-Japanese girl group, NiziU, through the program's first season in December 2020.

JYP stated that the boy band's name, NEXZ, is an abbreviation of "Next Generation," personally coined by producer Park Jin-young. According to the agency, Park selected the name to symbolize members who will lead the next generation, showcasing music and performances to usher in a new era.
