According to ABO Entertainment, "The Roundup: Punishment," the latest installment in the crime-action film series, achieved over 2 million admissions just three days after its release, marking the fastest milestone reached by any film in 2024 thus far.
The movie, featuring Ma Dong-seok in the lead role, debuted impressively on Wednesday with 820,000 viewers nationwide, surpassing the 1 million mark on its second day in theaters.
As of Saturday at 9 a.m., the film held a dominant position at the local box office, with 92.7 percent of all ticket reservations attributed to it.
The animated U.S. film "Kung Fu Panda 4" trailed behind with a mere 2.7 percent share.
"Punishment" is projected to exceed 3 million admissions over the weekend if current trends persist.

The storyline follows determined police officer Ma Seok-do, portrayed by Ma Dong-seok, as he pursues a global drug lord named Baek Chang-ki, played by Kim Moo-yeol, and a cryptocurrency entrepreneur, Chang Dong-cheol, portrayed by Lee Dong-hwi, who utilizes illegal online casinos for money laundering.
Ma Dong-seok, also known as Don Lee, not only stars in the film but also contributed as a planner, screenwriter, and producer.
Directed by Heo Myeong-haeng, previously recognized for his work as a martial arts choreographer on the franchise's preceding three installments, the film showcases a blend of action and crime genres.
