Director Kim Jin-min Addresses Editing Challenges and Anticipates Viewer Reactions Ahead of Sci-Fi Series Premiere

Actor Yoo Ah-in was initially announced as the lead for Netflix's new original series "Goodbye Earth" in 2022, raising expectations following his success in "Hellbound."

However, the series faced delays after allegations of illegal drug use surfaced against Yoo, leading to the postponement of its release.

Following a re-edit to remove scenes featuring Yoo, the series is now scheduled for release on April 24. Yoo is currently on trial facing charges related to the alleged abuse of medical drugs between 2020 and 2022.

Director Kim Jin-min addressed the editing challenges during a press conference, explaining efforts to remove scenes featuring Yoo while maintaining the integrity of the story.

Based on a Japanese novel, the sci-fi series follows characters navigating the challenges posed by an approaching asteroid and explores themes of despair, chaos, and hope in the face of impending doom.

Kim Jin-min highlighted the series' exploration of dystopia and anticipated diverse viewer reactions following its release.
