Los Angeles-based design and architecture studio 22RE has completed a striking office conversion project, transforming a former artist studio into a vibrant workplace for creative agency Day Job. The 1,800-square-foot building carries significant artistic heritage, having previously served as the studio of renowned artist Ed Ruscha. 22RE's intervention respects this legacy while creating a contemporary workspace that draws inspiration from residential design principles rather than conventional office layouts.
The exterior design establishes a bold presence with its austere monolithic form. The architects chose to clad the building in locally sourced Douglas fir combined with stucco, creating a material palette that reflects both sustainability concerns and regional architectural traditions.
