The article stated: "Mr. Alexandre Dumas the younger, a masonry contractor in Saintes, has just built a house on his own land at Quai Palissy, whose entire facade is covered with sculptures, foliage, birds and various ornaments ad infinitum. While one may criticize the profusion of details, one must at least recognize that they are thoroughly researched and executed with talent."
Every detail of the sculptural facade demonstrates meticulous craftsmanship, with carefully carved figures adorning each contour. Even the most functional elements receive artistic treatment – the window shutter levers are sculpted in the shape of bearded heads. Sandrine Herboux, a real estate advisor from IAD agency handling the sale, provided insights into the property's recent history. "The Fievez family is very proud of the house. They acquired it in 1974. The gentleman has passed away and it was too big for his wife, who moved closer to her daughter in the South," Herboux explained. The family purchased the property through a candle auction in 1974, and they have proudly displayed the original auction poster in their kitchen as a memento of their acquisition.
The interior of the sculptural house has been preserved in its original state, maintaining the authentic character of the period.
