A vibrant new graffiti artwork has been unveiled at Leverkusen Mitte train station as part of an innovative project called "Street Art meets Station." The colorful mural features local landmarks and cultural elements that celebrate the city's unique character and heritage.

The artwork prominently displays recognizable local motifs including the iconic water tower and distinctive elements from the Japanese Garden, creating a visual representation of Leverkusen's cultural landscape. These carefully chosen design elements serve to connect commuters and visitors with the city's most beloved landmarks and attractions.

The project was jointly initiated by go.Rheinland GmbH and Deutsche Bahn (German Railways) with a dual purpose in mind. The primary goal is to improve the overall quality of the station environment for travelers and visitors, while simultaneously preventing vandalism and unauthorized graffiti that often plague public transportation facilities.

According to the project organizers, the concept of beautifying train stations with commissioned artwork has already proven successful at other locations throughout the region. This approach represents a proactive strategy that transforms potential targets for vandalism into celebrated community art spaces, creating a more welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment for all users of the transportation facility.
