A contemporary residential project in Bonfim Paulista, Brazil, showcases innovative architectural design through the creative overlapping of two distinct volumes on a unique double-fronted lot. The Buenos Aires House, designed by estúdio mariane rios and completed in 2025, demonstrates a sophisticated approach to modern residential architecture with its bold material contrasts and carefully planned spatial arrangement.
The 535-square-meter residence is characterized by its distinctive two-volume composition, where an upper level defined by dense concrete slats rests elegantly above a monochromatic ground floor. The lower level combines painted surfaces with metal sheets in varying shades of gray, creating a subtle yet impactful visual foundation for the more dramatic upper structure. This design strategy maximizes the potential of the lot's dual street frontages while establishing a clear architectural hierarchy.
Architect Mariane Rios led the design process, working with project execution partner Bistane Engenharia to bring the vision to life. The project involved collaboration with numerous specialized contractors and suppliers, including Lucenera for lighting design, Mônica Costa for landscape architecture, and Gasparinox for brushed stainless steel elements. The concrete slat facades were crafted by Pisatto, while natural stone work was handled by Pedras Paraíso, demonstrating the project's commitment to high-quality materials and craftsmanship.
The interior spaces feature custom carpentry work by Marcenaria Esmage, with specialized kitchen, laundry, bathroom, and closet elements provided by Florense. Furniture design was handled by Jader Almeida, while Portobello supplied the bathroom and laundry room flooring. The residence incorporates modern building systems including air conditioning and ventilation by Maxi Ar, home automation by Automundi, and a solar energy system implemented by Nitiz.
Detailed finishing elements throughout the house include decorative wall textures by Decorcril and wooden ceiling and flooring installations by Estilo Parquet. The project represents a comprehensive approach to contemporary residential design, balancing aesthetic innovation with practical functionality. The careful selection of materials and integration of sustainable technologies reflects current trends in Brazilian residential architecture while maintaining a distinct design identity that responds to the specific characteristics of the site and client requirements.
