House NM, a striking example of contemporary Portuguese residential architecture, has been completed in Penafiel, Portugal, by the acclaimed CFDS Architecture team. The 300-square-meter residence, finished in 2024, represents a remarkable fusion of modern design principles with the natural landscape of the Porto region.
Designed by lead architect Daniel Sousa, the project demonstrates the studio's commitment to creating spaces that harmonize with their surroundings while maintaining a distinctly contemporary aesthetic. The house incorporates clean lines, geometric forms, and carefully selected materials that reflect both international modernist influences and local Portuguese architectural traditions.
The construction was carried out by Fielnorte - Engenharia e Construção, with interior design handled by Puro - by Catarina Ferreira. The collaboration between these teams resulted in a cohesive vision that extends from the building's structural elements to its finest interior details. High-quality materials from manufacturers including Banema and Porcelanosa Grupo were selected to ensure both durability and aesthetic appeal.
Photographer Pedro Machado captured the completed residence, documenting how the building's angular forms and expansive glazing create a dialogue between interior and exterior spaces. The house features large windows that frame views of the surrounding landscape while flooding the interior with natural light throughout the day.
