The Amberando hiking club has officially inaugurated a new statue dedicated to hikers, creating a symbolic landmark at the House of Hiking in Ambert, France. The statue, crafted by renowned sculptor Michel Compte, now stands as the club's new emblem at Place Georges-Courtial, serving as a tribute to the walking culture that defines the organization.

The inauguration ceremony was led by club president Thierry Dupecher, who unveiled the statue in the presence of sculptor Michel Compte, Ambert mayor Guy Gorbinet, and numerous club members. The beautifully crafted statue of a hiker has found its natural place beside the House of Hiking, perfectly complementing the facility's mission to promote pedestrian hiking activities.

The Amberando association uses this statue to highlight the importance of hiking, an activity they offer to members and their guests every day of the week regardless of physical fitness level, all while maintaining the highest safety standards. These hiking excursions are always accompanied by certified guides and instructors, ensuring participants have safe and enjoyable experiences in the outdoors.

The statue project was originally initiated by André Friteyre, the club's former president, who envisioned creating a lasting symbol for the organization. The commission was entrusted to Michel Compte, a renowned sculptor from Dore-l'Église, who has the distinctive practice of donating the proceeds from his artistic works to humanitarian causes, specifically supporting the Cannelle association in Arlanc and the Restos du Cœur (Restaurants of the Heart) food charity in Ambert.

In keeping with the sculptor's charitable tradition, the funds related to this statue project have been donated to the Restos d'Ambert, demonstrating how the Amberando club contributes to community support. Information about the club's daily hiking activities and schedules is available on their website at www.amberando.fr, where interested individuals can find details about joining their guided walking tours and outdoor adventures.
