Korean Cultural Centre Australia Offers Immersive Temple Food Experience with Buddhist Monk

The Korean Cultural Centre Australia is presenting a unique cultural program that introduces participants to the ancient tradition of Korean temple food, showcasing both the philosophical foundations and distinctive flavors of this mindful culinary practice. The special event will feature Venerable Donghwa, a visiting Buddhist monk from Korea, who will lead participants through an educational journey exploring this deeply rooted spiritual cuisine.

The program has been developed in partnership with the Cultural Corps of Korean Buddhism, a Korean government organization that specializes in promoting and preserving Korean temple food traditions. Each session will combine an informative lecture about the philosophy behind temple cuisine with a live cooking demonstration of selected traditional dishes, followed by a tasting opportunity for all participants.

Three identical sessions are scheduled to accommodate different attendees: the first session will take place on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, while two evening sessions are planned for Wednesday, September 10, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, and Thursday, September 11, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. All sessions will be held at the Korean Cultural Centre Australia, located on the ground floor of 255 Elizabeth Street in Sydney.

Due to limited seating capacity, interested participants must apply online through the center's application system rather than simply registering. The selection process aims to ensure a diverse audience and promote Korean cultural experiences to a broader community. Successful applicants will be notified via email with confirmation details and further instructions.

The center has established specific guidelines for participants, including a requirement to notify organizers at food@koreanculture.org.au at least 48 hours in advance if they cannot attend after being selected. This policy ensures that individuals on the waiting list have the opportunity to participate, and failure to provide adequate notice may impact eligibility for future cultural events hosted by the center.

Participants should be aware that the event may be filmed or photographed for promotional purposes, and attendance constitutes agreement to potential use of their image in marketing materials.
