The city of Bad Wurzach has announced the appointment of Andreas Heine-Strahl as its new City Building Director (Stadtbaumeister). The architect is expected to transition from his current position in Bad Waldsee to Bad Wurzach around the turn of the year, filling a leadership role that has been vacant since early July following the departure of Kathleen Kreutzer.
The city council made the decision to select Heine-Strahl for the position during a closed session. Mayor Alexandra Scherer expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, stating: "We are very pleased that we were able to quickly recruit Mr. Heine-Strahl as a professionally competent leader, and we can thus place the management of the department and the further urban development locally in good hands."
Heine-Strahl, 45, currently lives in Ehrensberg and holds a comparable position with the city of Bad Waldsee. The exact timing of his transition, expected around the new year, is currently being finalized according to the city administration. Before becoming City Building Director in 2022, the trained architect worked for Bad Waldsee starting in 2014 as an architect and head of the building construction department. Prior to that, he spent several years as an architect with an architectural firm in Ravensburg.
In his new role, Heine-Strahl will oversee the building department, which encompasses multiple areas of responsibility. His jurisdiction will include the Construction Department with specializations in building construction, civil engineering, and facility management, the Urban Planning and Building Code Department, and the municipal construction yard.
The incoming director expressed excitement about his new professional challenge, noting that Bad Wurzach has ambitious plans ahead. "Many challenges, but also opportunities await the community and, associated with that, the municipal administration," Heine-Strahl commented. "I am happy to contribute my many years of professional experience and my ideas and help shape the future of the city and the local communities together with the city council, Mayor Scherer, colleagues in the administration, the local representatives, and together with the citizens."
Heine-Strahl will succeed Kathleen Kreutzer, who held the leadership position from February 2022 until her recent departure. Before starting her role in Bad Wurzach, Kreutzer had served as City Building Director in Aulendorf. In her farewell conversation with the editorial team, Kreutzer emphasized her gratitude to the employees in the construction department, saying: "A big thank you for the cooperation and trust." She noted that leaving was not easy for her, particularly because of the staff there.
The position has seen significant turnover in recent years. Kreutzer had taken over in 2022 from City Building Director Matthäus Rude, who left the city administration in 2021 at his own request after more than ten years of service. This appointment represents the city's effort to bring stability to this crucial leadership role and continue Bad Wurzach's urban development initiatives under experienced professional guidance.
