Sixteen students aged 16 to 18 are exploring what truly matters to them through a compelling new photography project now on display at Old Street Roundabout. The exhibition, titled "Young London Photographers: Common Ground," features works that capture the people, places, and objects that hold deep significance for these emerging artists.
The student photographers spent their summer collaborating with professional artists and industry mentors as part of an intensive creative program. During this period, they engaged in thoughtful discussions about what matters most to teenagers growing up in London today and explored how they can celebrate their individuality through the art of portraiture. The project provided these young artists with valuable guidance and professional insights into both creative expression and technical photography skills.
All participating students were part of the Common Ground project, an initiative specifically designed to support young and emerging artists in advancing their creative careers and gaining access to higher education opportunities. This program serves as a bridge between artistic passion and professional development, helping students navigate pathways into the creative industries while developing their unique artistic voices.
The impressive results of their collaborative work are being displayed on a towering six-meter-high installation at the Old Street Digital Canvas, creating a powerful visual impact for passersby in one of London's most vibrant creative districts. The exhibition will run from October 20 through November 2, 2025, giving both local residents and visitors ample opportunity to experience these compelling works.
