A groundbreaking K-pop movie co-produced by Hybe America and major Hollywood studio Paramount Pictures has officially begun filming in Seoul, marking a significant milestone in the entertainment industry. The film, which tells the compelling story of a Korean-American girl pursuing her dream of joining a K-pop girl group, is set to hit theaters on February 12, 2027.

Production commenced on Sunday with the announcement of nine new cast members joining the project: Sung Joon, Kang So-ra, Lee Hyong-chol, Lee A-in, Renata Vaca, Silia Kapsis, Aliyah Turner, Kim Shana, and Park Ju-bi. These actors join an already impressive lineup featuring leads Yoo Ji-young and singer-songwriter Eric Nam, alongside confirmed participants Korean actor Yoo Ji-tae, Tony Revolori, and Gia Kim, creating a star-studded ensemble that brings additional star power to the production.

The upcoming film centers on the journey of a Korean-American girl who, despite facing strong opposition from her family, refuses to give up on her aspiration to become a member of a next-generation K-pop girl group. Her path to stardom involves competing in a television audition program, showcasing the challenges and determination required to break into the highly competitive K-pop industry.

Director Benson Lee, who previously helmed "Seoul Camp 1986" starring actor Cha In-pyo, will lead the project. The screenplay has been crafted by Eileen Shim, who brings her experience as co-writer of Disney series "The Acolyte" to this ambitious production, ensuring a compelling narrative that bridges Korean and American entertainment cultures.

The movie represents a historic moment for the Korean film industry, as it marks the first time a major Hollywood studio production is being filmed entirely in Korea, according to Hybe. Production will span multiple locations across the country, with filming scheduled to continue in various cities including Incheon, Gimpo, Paju, and Gapyeong in Gyeonggi Province, showcasing diverse Korean landscapes and urban environments.

This collaboration between Hybe America and Paramount Pictures demonstrates the growing global influence of K-pop culture and the entertainment industry's recognition of Korean content's international appeal. The film is expected to bridge cultural gaps while celebrating the universal themes of dreams, perseverance, and the pursuit of artistic excellence in the competitive world of K-pop entertainment.
