A major Korean cultural festival is set to transform the University of Botswana campus into a vibrant celebration of Korean heritage and traditions. The Korean Cultural Center will host 'Travelling Korea in Botswana' on Friday, August 22, 2025, offering visitors an immersive journey through Korean culture without leaving Gaborone.

The all-day event, scheduled from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the University of Botswana Indoor Sports Centre, promises to bring the authentic sights, sounds, and flavors of Korea directly to Botswana. Organizers have designed the festival to provide participants with a comprehensive Korean cultural experience that captures the essence of the East Asian nation's rich traditions and modern innovations.

The festival will feature an extensive program of activities designed to engage all the senses. Visitors can expect energetic K-pop dance performances that showcase Korea's global cultural phenomenon, along with educational exhibitions highlighting various aspects of Korean heritage. A dedicated Korea Experience Zone will offer hands-on activities and interactive displays, allowing attendees to participate in traditional Korean customs and learn about the country's history and contemporary culture.

Food enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sample authentic Korean cuisine through organized food tasting sessions. These culinary experiences will introduce Botswana residents to the diverse flavors and cooking techniques that define Korean gastronomy, from traditional dishes to modern Korean street food favorites.

In a unique cultural exchange gesture, the event will also feature a special Botswana Experience Zone, creating a reciprocal celebration that honors the host country's own rich cultural traditions. This addition demonstrates the mutual respect and cultural appreciation between the two nations, adding a distinctive local element to the international cultural festival.

Admission to the event is completely free, making Korean culture accessible to all members of the Botswana community. However, organizers require advance registration through an online form to manage attendance and ensure a smooth experience for all participants. Interested individuals can register at the provided Google Forms link or contact the Korean Cultural Center directly at 012 001 9204 or via email at kccsa@korea.kr for additional information and inquiries about the event.
