A previously unknown portrait by Pablo Picasso featuring his famous muse Dora Maar has been unveiled to the public for the first time in Paris. The painting, titled "Buste de femme au chapeau à fleurs (Dora Maar)" (Bust of Woman with Floral Hat - Dora Maar), was created in 1943 and has remained hidden from public view until now.

The artwork by the renowned Spanish artist Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) is currently on display at the prestigious Drouot auction house in Paris ahead of its scheduled sale. The painting represents a significant discovery in the art world, as it captures Dora Maar, one of Picasso's most influential muses and romantic partners during the 1930s and 1940s.

According to art experts, this particular portrait has never been exhibited publicly before and was completely unknown to the general public until its recent emergence. The 1943 date places the work during a particularly productive period in Picasso's career, when he was creating some of his most celebrated pieces featuring Maar.

The painting is set to go under the hammer at the Drouot auction rooms in Paris on September 16, 2025. Art collectors and enthusiasts worldwide are expected to show significant interest in this rare piece, given both its historical importance and the fact that it represents a previously undocumented work by one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
