Interactive Art Project Creates Community Conversations at Kunsthalle Brennabor

Sayart / Sep 6, 2025

Artist Gabriele Konsor has established a temporary sewing workshop at Kunsthalle Brennabor, where she collaborates with visitors to create a textile artwork that connects the city's history with its present. The project draws inspiration from the historical ornament collection of the Wredowsche Drawing School Foundation, transforming these elements into contemporary artistic expression.

On Saturday, September 6, the gallery will host a diverse program featuring guided tours and interactive performances. Art historian and bbk executive director Petra Schmidt Dreyblatt will lead an exhibition tour at 2 PM, introducing selected works and artists to visitors. The tour provides insight into the current exhibition and contextualizes the various artistic approaches on display.

Following the guided tour, the authors' and artists' collective Ministry of Compassion will open its doors at 3 PM for an interactive performance called "Minister's Office Hours." This unique experience offers 30-minute one-on-one sessions where participants can discuss themes of care, anxiety, and hope. During these intimate conversations, the Minister asks questions, listens actively, remains curious, and creates thinking and discussion spaces that remain open in all directions.

The exhibition month includes additional programming designed to engage the community. On Saturday, September 13, from 3 to 4:30 PM, visitors can participate in a "Step by Step City Walk for Perspective Change" with Moritz von Rappard and four Brandenburg voices. This walking tour promises to offer new viewpoints on the familiar urban landscape.

Another art discussion with Petra Schmidt Dreyblatt is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, at 3 PM, providing another opportunity for deeper engagement with the exhibition's themes and artworks. School groups are welcome by appointment, and interested educators can register through the website postfreunde-kunsthalle-brennabor.com or by calling 0176 34644560.

The Kunsthalle Brennabor is located at Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 12, 14776 Brandenburg. This collaborative approach to art-making reflects a growing trend in contemporary practice where artists engage directly with communities to create meaningful dialogue through creative expression.
