The Edward A. Whitney Gallery at Sheridan College is set to unveil a compelling new exhibition featuring the work of mixed media artist David Morrison. The exhibition, titled "Remnants of Future Landscapes," will showcase Morrison's environmentally-focused artwork that explores the complex relationship between human activity and the natural world.

Brittney Denham, who serves as both Chair of the Visual and Performing Arts department and Gallery Director of the Edward A. Whitney Gallery at Sheridan College, recently appeared on Sheridan Media's Public Pulse program to announce the upcoming exhibition. During her appearance, Denham highlighted Morrison's expanding artistic curiosity and his innovative approach to incorporating various mediums and materials into his work.

Morrison, currently in his third year of the Master of Fine Arts program at the University of Oklahoma, brings fresh perspective to his art following a recent artist residency at the prestigious Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont. His artistic practice centers on mixed media compositions that combine ceramics with found materials, creating thought-provoking pieces that examine themes related to human environmental impact.

The gallery will host a free artist talk and opening reception featuring Morrison on Thursday, September 18, beginning at 4 p.m. This event will provide visitors with the opportunity to engage directly with the artist and gain deeper insights into his creative process and the conceptual framework behind "Remnants of Future Landscapes." The exhibition promises to showcase the breadth of Morrison's artistic exploration and his commitment to addressing pressing environmental concerns through contemporary art.
