The Oval House, designed by Jorgelina Tortorici & Asociados in collaboration with Nicolás Lanza, stands as a striking architectural statement in the traditional residential neighborhood of Bella Vista, Argentina. Completed in 2022, this 4,467 square foot residence challenges conventional design norms by presenting itself as a large geometric block that conceals an empty space within its structure.
Located in a gated residential community characterized by wooded grounds and traditional houses, the Oval House deliberately contrasts with its surroundings through its bold geometric form. The architects, led by Arq. Jorgelina Tortorici and Arq. Nicolás Lanza, worked alongside team members Arq. Romina Calzi and Arq. Magali Gigena to create this distinctive residential project. The landscape design was expertly handled by Cecilia Grant, ensuring seamless integration between the built environment and natural surroundings.
The project's most remarkable feature is its conceptual approach to space and form. Rather than following traditional residential design patterns common in the neighborhood, the Oval House presents a modernist interpretation that plays with the relationship between solid and void, interior and exterior. The geometric block facade serves as both a protective shell and an architectural statement, creating intrigue about what lies within.
Photographer Alejandro Peral's documentation captures the essence of this architectural achievement, showcasing how the building interacts with light, shadow, and its natural environment throughout different times of day. The images reveal the careful attention to detail in both the building's exterior treatment and its relationship to the surrounding landscape.
The construction incorporated high-quality materials and systems from renowned manufacturers including EGGER, Blum, Canteras, Carpeal, DE OTRO TIEMPO, Dekton, HYDRA, MSH, Moras Puertas, Roca, and SBG, ensuring both aesthetic excellence and functional durability. The selection of these premium materials reflects the project's commitment to creating a residence that will stand the test of time while maintaining its visual impact.
This residential project represents a significant contribution to contemporary Argentine architecture, demonstrating how modern design can respectfully coexist within established neighborhood contexts while making a bold architectural statement. The Oval House serves as an example of how innovative residential design can challenge traditional forms while still providing comfortable, functional living spaces for its inhabitants.
