Korea Glocal Education Fair 2024 to Address Future Education Trends

Yeosu to Host Five-Day Event Exploring Digital Transformation in Education

The Korea Glocal Education Fair 2024 is scheduled to take place at Expo Ocean Park in Yeosu, South Korea, starting from May 29. The event, themed "Education for Coexistence and Sustainable Future," aims to examine the trajectory of future education amid the ongoing digital transformation.

Organized by the Jeollanam-do Office of Education, the Ministry of Education, the South Jeolla provincial government, and the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education, this inaugural event will encompass special lectures by renowned education leaders, discussions on future education, exhibitions, and cultural exchanges.

Key highlights include the Glocal Future Classroom, a glimpse into a classroom environment envisioned for 2030, where digital devices replace traditional tools, and robots assist in facilitating learning activities.

Notable speakers slated for special lectures include Harvard University professor Michael Sandel, former president of Singapore National Institute of Education Tan Oon Seong, executive director of the DaVinci Institute Thomas Frey, associate dean of the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University Paul Kim, and Korean American robotics engineer Dennis Hong.

The fair will also feature various pavilions, including the Republic of Korea Education Pavilion, Edutech Valley, and the International Education Pavilion, with participation from 25 countries.

Cultural exchanges and festivals are planned throughout the event, including performances by student art clubs, a media art show, and global friendship projects.

Kim Dae-jung, governor of education for South Jeolla Province, emphasized the fair's significance as a catalyst for transformation in the nation's future education landscape.
